Clayreesa Barnes is often one of the first people clients encounter when they contact The Law Offices of Brian J. Smith, ltd.

That matters.
People do not usually call a law office on an ordinary day. They call because something has happened. A citation has been issued. A license may be at risk. A job has been lost. A hearing is approaching. A union issue needs attention. A question needs an answer, and the person asking it may already feel uncertain about what comes next.
Clayreesa's work helps bring order to those moments.
As Executive Assistant, Clayreesa supports the daily operation of the firm, coordinates communication, assists with scheduling, helps manage client information, and works to make sure the right details reach the right people at the right time. Her role requires organization, patience, judgment, and the ability to keep many moving parts aligned while clients, attorneys, courts, agencies, and opposing parties all move on different timelines.
Before joining the firm, Clayreesa built a strong administrative and client-service background across financial services, nonprofit housing, and senior-living communities. In those roles, she managed calendars, supported office operations, coordinated meetings and events, handled records and documents, communicated with clients and the public, and helped people navigate systems that could feel confusing or overwhelming.
That experience shaped the way she works with clients today.
Clayreesa understands that client service is not just about answering a phone or sending a message. It is about listening carefully, staying organized, following through, and helping people feel that their concerns have been received and understood. In a law firm, those small acts of attention can make a real difference. A returned call, a scheduled appointment, a gathered document, or a carefully relayed message can help move a case forward.
Her background also reflects steady growth through responsibility. She has served in receptionist, administrative assistant, resident-program, office-management, and executive-assistant roles. She has worked with clients, families, residents, executives, financial advisors, nonprofit staff, and members of the public. Across those settings, the common thread has been service: helping people get connected, prepared, and supported.
Clayreesa holds an Associate of Arts with a concentration in Business Fundamentals and a Human Resources Certificate from the University of Phoenix. She is also a notary and has completed professional training related to racial equity and inclusion.
At the firm, Clayreesa brings energy, organization, and care to work that often happens behind the scenes but is essential to the client experience. She helps keep the office moving, helps clients stay connected, and helps the attorneys remain focused on the legal work clients hired the firm to perform.
For Clayreesa, the work is practical and personal.
It is the call answered with patience. The appointment scheduled with care. The document tracked down before it is needed. The client reassured that the message will get to the right person.
That is how a law firm earns trust in the small moments.
And those moments matter.
